April June Drop In Sessions

These sessions are for past clients who have finished our group training OR clients looking to complete their last class.

Drop in Sessions are weather dependent. If it is raining hard, high winds or thunder and lightening class will be cancelled. If you are not sure, please check back on a regular basis. It WILL be posted on this blog if it is cancelled. Please also check on this blog on a regular basis to make sure that no changes have been made to times or locations of the class you are wanting to attend.

BX DROP IN SESSION- FINISHED

Time & Date: Monday, April.30th at 6pm
Place: Bx Ranch Dog Park 
Bring: Treats, Long Leads, Training collars if necessary
Price: FREE
Working on: Distractions, Distance, and informal commands, confidence building, manners & socializing working with pager collars and problem behaviour

FUN~ KAL PARK HIKE- FINISHED

Time & Date: Wednesday, May.2nd at 6pm
Place: Kal Park- Cosens Bay Parking Lot 
Bring: Treats, long leads, water for owners, dogs favourite toy (optional)

Price: FREE

Working on: We will be working on a couple things- but this is mostly a fun event.

Additional Notes: 

Take Kalamalka Lake Rd. off Highway 97. Go through most of Coldstream and watch for the blue sign pointing to Kalmalka Lake Park and Cosens Bay. You will past the first park turnoff, but the trail head for this one is on the 2nd turnoff, about 2 km down. There is one dodgily marked turnoff that is a sharp hairpin, but dont worry, the trail is not difficult to find.

VERNON K9 DOG CONTROL FINISHED

Time & Date: Saturday, May.5th from Noon to 4pm
Place: VERNON K9 Dog Control- 4800 Haney Road 

DEMO: THE RUFF LIFE WILL BE DOING A OBEDIENCE DEMO AT 1PM- More events & Info to come.

Additional Notes: Although the Vernon SPCA and Vernon K9 Dog Control have absolutely nothing to do with each other- they will both be coordinating events separately to try and promote a great turn out- for the love of animals. http://dogcontrol.ca/

Vernon Dog Licences not only help reunite lost dogs with their families. The money raised for your dogs yearly licence also goes back into the community for:

** Pay for Dog Control Services

** Spay & Neutered dogs that come into the shelter and are not claimed but need to be adopted out

** Pay for K9 Medical Bills when dogs are found and hurt

** Dog Control Education- Dog Awareness and Responsible Ownership- Information Sessions are held at local     Elementary Schools 

** Supporting Vernon Kennel Club and The Humane Society Events

** Safety/Fire Stickers for doors (If there is a fire- response crews know how many animals are in your home)

** Off Set the taxes for Non-Dog Households (So people who dont own a dog- are not paying for others dogs when they pay taxes)

**Encourages Population Control and Responsible Ownership
