So that's the height i used on my bench. increase or decrease the length of the legs on your workbench to adjust the height of the work surface to match your wrist crease measurement. if you're 5'10" or taller, you may find a wrist crease measurement of 35" to 37".. That would be a luxury, but from the response to the bench height questionnaire it does seem that 38″ suited most woodworkers if average height around 5’10” and actually suited a wider height range of between the height of 5’8″ and 5’11”..
Hi ron, in all honesty i prefer a taller bench, as it helps avoid back fatigue when working for long periods. for myself (standing at 6’2″) this means a working surface at 39″ (belt buckle/just below belly button height in my case), but there’s no one size fits all or regulation height that everyone can work to.. You don't need a tape measure (i.e. numerical dimensions) to size a workbench. you just need you!.
